Description of the material

Bring me! is a running game for physical education in which children search for picture cards with spring motifs in the sports hall. As soon as the game leader reads out a command such as “Bring me a butterfly!”, everyone can run off, turn over the face-down cards, and look for the matching picture. Whoever finds one shows the card to the game leader and gets a point – at the end, the person who has found the most cards wins.

What is included

  • Game description with procedure, duration, required materials and variations
  • Picture cards with spring motifs such as bee, frog, watering can and rainbow
  • Commands to read out in a simple and an alternative version

Tips for using the material

  • Commands as riddles: Instead of the simple commands, the descriptions from the alternative version can be read out, for example, “Bring me a small animal that crawls very slowly!”. The children then have to figure out which picture is meant first.
  • Own point pile: Each child can collect their found cards at the edge of the playing area and thus keep track of their points.
  • Round by round: Once all cards of a motif have been found, the group can line up at the starting line again before the next command follows.
  • Face-up cards: As a variation, the picture cards can lie face-up in the playing area.
  • Changing starting positions: Each round can start differently, for example lying on their stomach, sitting facing backwards or lying on their back.

These skills are promoted

  • Reaction speed when starting on the command, also from changing starting positions
  • Visual perception when quickly recognizing the searched picture
  • Combining when the children deduce the matching picture from a description

Organizational notes

Each picture card is needed about six times. The children start next to each other at a starting line, the cards are spread out in the playing area. One game lasts about 5 to 15 minutes and ends after eight to twelve rounds.

“Bring me!” is also available as an Autumn Edition and as a Winter Edition; in spring, a search game with spring motifs and a running game with a puzzle are also suitable.
