Description of the material

This autumn edition of “Bring me!” is a running game for physical education in which children search the gym for picture cards featuring autumn motifs. As soon as the game leader reads out a command such as “Bring me a hedgehog!”, everyone can set off, turn over face-down cards, and keep searching until they have found the matching picture. Whoever finds it shows the card to the game leader and earns a point.

What is included

  • Game description with instructions, materials and variants, as well as an illustration showing how to set it up in the gym
  • Picture cards featuring autumn motifs such as a hedgehog, mushroom, autumn leaf and umbrella
  • Commands in two versions: simply stating the name of the motif or presenting it as a short riddle describing the motif

Tips for using the materials

  • Round structure: Once all cards of a particular motif have been found, the round ends, and everyone can line up at the starting line again for the next command. After several rounds, you can count who has found the most cards.
  • Individual card pile: It is a good idea for each person to collect their found cards on their own pile at the edge of the playing area so that they can keep track of them.
  • Face-up: As a variant, the picture cards can also be placed face-up in the playing area.
  • Starting positions: For more variety, you can start from a different position in each round, for example lying on your stomach or back, or sitting and looking backwards.

These skills are promoted

  • Reaction and speed when responding to the command and quickly searching for the cards
  • Visual perception by recognizing the searched-for motif on the picture cards
  • Combining when deciphering the riddles that describe a motif

Organizational notes

Each picture card is used several times during the game; at the start, the children line up next to each other at a starting line.

Bring me! is also available as a spring edition and a winter edition; there is also a search game with autumn motifs and an autumn relay race.
