Description of the material

The yoga cube is used to make handmade cubes featuring children's yoga poses. The children can color their cube, then roll it and imitate the pose shown on top—sometimes as a tree, sometimes as a frog or cobra. The cube makes every yoga session different.

What is included in the material

  • Cube templates for the cubes "Standing Yoga Poses", "General Yoga Poses" and "Animal Yoga Poses", each with and without the names of the poses
  • Crafting instructions from coloring to gluing the cube templates together
  • Activity examples with short rules for using the yoga cube

Tips for using the material

  • As a yoga flow: The cube can be rolled ten times in a row, with each pose rolled performed for about 30 seconds. A short warm-up beforehand is recommended.
  • As a movement break while studying: After completing each task, the children can roll the cube once or twice as a reward and perform the pose rolled.
  • As a craft activity: Making and coloring the cube can be used as a separate craft activity for children.
  • As a board game variant: If a piece is captured in a board game with pieces, the captured person can roll the yoga cube, and both people perform the pose together.

These skills are promoted

  • Dexterity when making, folding and gluing the cube
  • Creativity when coloring the cube template
  • Performing yoga poses according to a picture by imitating the pose rolled in the drawing

Organizational notes

The cube templates are best printed on slightly thicker paper.

Children's yoga for rolling is also available as a poster and as a ready-made sequence by rolling a cube, with more poses offered by the children's yoga picture cards.
