Relay Race Memory Game Halloween Edition: Relay game with picture cards for PE class

The Halloween edition of the Memo Relay turns the search for matching pairs into a relay race for primary school and higher classes. Two teams uncover face-down cards with Halloween motifs and collect pairs. Taking turns, one person from each team can run off and flip over two cards; found pairs are placed on the team pile until all pairs have been uncovered.

Tips for using the material

• Basic game: Anyone who finds a pair can immediately uncover two more cards. If the cards do not match, they are turned face down again, the person runs back to the starting line and it is the other team's turn. At the end, the team with the most pairs wins.
• Timed: Alternatively, the game can be evaluated after five minutes – then the team that has uncovered more pairs by then wins.
• Simultaneous start: Both teams can also run off at the same time.
• Storm: For variety, a fierce storm can break out in between: the teacher shuffles the cards during the game.
• Bet against the teacher: The whole group can also play together and is given a time limit in which they must uncover all pairs. In each round, one person from the group runs off; beforehand, a bet can be agreed upon.

Organizational notes

For the game, the Memo cards and caps are needed. The cards are printed on thicker paper, cut in half and laminated; glued under caps, they are easier to uncover. The game leader lays them out face down in a grid approximately 20 meters from the starting line, the two teams line up in a row behind the starting line.
