Memo Relay Winter Edition: Festive relay race with picture cards for PE class

The Memo Relay Winter Edition is a relay race with memo cards featuring winter and Christmas motifs. The relay race for primary school combines running and memorizing: the children take turns running to the card field, turning over two face-down cards, and searching for pairs. Anyone who finds a pair places it on their team's pile and can continue searching.

Tips for using the materials

• Basic game: The teams can play until all pairs have been found. Anyone who turns over two different cards turns them over again and runs back, then it is the other team's turn. The team with the most pairs wins.
• Timed: The round can also be ended after five minutes – then the team that has turned over more pairs by then wins.
• Simultaneous start: Both teams can also start at the same time.
• Storm: The teacher can occasionally create a fierce storm and shuffle the cards during the game.
• Bet against the teacher: The whole group can play together against a set time. In each round, one person runs and turns over two cards; beforehand, a bet can be agreed upon.

Organizational notes

For the setup, in addition to the memo cards, you need cones and two hoops. The memo cards are laid face down on the ground in a grid at a short distance from the starting line, with the teams standing in a row behind them. Anyone who likes can stick the cards under cones, making them easier to turn over.
