Description of the material

Using boxes, benches, mats, and tires, these station cards create a space for football golf in physical education. Students can kick the football over a bench, into a tire, or high onto a soft-surface mat. The goal is to hit the target at each station in as few attempts as possible.

What is included in the material

  • Station cards showing the setup, starting point, and target of each station in a drawing without text
  • Scorecards for recording the name, the attempts at each station, and the total score
  • Procedure and rules as an example of how to conduct the activity and count the attempts

Tips for using the material

  • Group walk-through: After setting up and explaining the rules, everyone can go through the stations together once more so that every child knows what to do at each station.
  • In small groups: Students can move through the stations in small groups, changing stations independently as soon as they have completed one.
  • Counting attempts: Six attempts per station is a good rule; if someone does not hit the target on their sixth attempt, they record seven.

These skills are promoted

  • Accurate kicking of the football at a wide variety of targets, including a goal and a basketball hoop
  • Controlling power and trajectory when the ball is kicked low, over an obstacle, or high at a target
  • Independent working when changing stations independently and recording the attempts

Organizational notes

Each child needs a football, a pen, and a scorecard.

To complement this, there is football technique at stations as well as other golf variants with station cards, such as minigolf, handball golf, and basketball golf.
