Description of the material

These exercise cards bring the Frisbee into physical education. Learners can discover the flight characteristics of the disc. Throwing and catching can be practiced in ever-new situations – jumping, on one leg, on a bench, or after a forward roll. Each card shows at a glance what to do and what is needed.

What is included in the material

  • Guidance on lesson planning regarding the objectives, structure, and use of the exercise collection
  • Exercise cards with individual exercises: coordination tasks in which the disc is circled, thrown high, and after an additional movement caught again or thrown at targets
  • Exercise cards with partner and group exercises: cooperative tasks for throwing and catching, for example while running, with role changes, or against a person trying to prevent the passes

Tips for using the material

  • Circuit training or individually: The exercises can be set up as circuit training at stations or performed individually under the teacher's guidance.
  • Extension for advanced learners: If an exercise becomes too easy, it can be increased in difficulty using the task extension on each card, for example by increasing the throwing distance, speed, or using the weaker hand.
  • Wide range of uses: The cards are suitable for secondary school, upper secondary school, vocational school, and club sports; in particularly sporty primary school classes, some exercises can be used even earlier.

These skills are promoted

  • Throwing and catching technique with the Frisbee disc, for example forehand throwing and catching with one hand
  • Accuracy by throwing at cones, markers, box parts, and hoops
  • Coordination when throwing and catching are combined with additional movement tasks
  • Teamwork and coordination when throwing to each other in the partner and group exercises

Organizational notes

In addition to Frisbee discs – one per person in many individual exercises – common gym equipment is used, such as markers, small mats, a box, cones, benches, a soft floor mat, hoops, and a football.

To complement this, there are technique cards for throwing and catching with the Frisbee disc, throwing at targets with the Frisbee disc at stations (Disc-Golf), and individual and partner exercises for throwing and catching at stations.
