Description of the material

The group division is done with these animal cards for a search game: anyone who draws a card can only find their team using the "language" of their animal. The cards show a cow, cat, sheep, rooster, pig, and horse – for example, anyone who draws the cow may only moo until all the cows have found each other.

This is included in the material

  • Animal cards, with each animal on its own page with the heading "Team: …"
  • Instructions with preparation and procedure for the group division

Tips for using the material

  • Drawing cards: The well-shuffled cards can be drawn from a bag or laid face down on the floor.
  • Allowing movements: In addition to animal sounds, the animals' movements can also be allowed to help find the group if necessary.

These skills are promoted

  • Communication without words, because the groups only find each other through animal sounds and movements
  • Listening carefully when picking out the sounds of your own animal
  • Expression with voice and body when imitating the animals

Organizational notes

It is sufficient to print only the pages of the required animals. Printed on thicker paper or laminated, the cards will last longer and can be used again and again.

To match this, there are further picture cards for organizing the sports lesson, picture cards for procedures and rituals in sports lessons and group games for the newly formed teams.
