Description of the material

The Memory Run in the winter edition is a running game for small groups with winter memory cards full of symbols, letters, and numbers. One by one, the children run to the memory card, memorize as many squares as possible, and then enter them from memory on their group's memory card after returning. The group that completes and correctly fills in its memory card first wins.

What is included in the material

  • Game instructions with game description, variants, and an illustration of the game setup
  • Memory cards in various sizes, whose squares are filled with symbols such as a star, heart, or candy cane, as well as letters and numbers
  • Memory cards with empty squares matching each memory card

Tips for using the material

  • As an individual game: Instead of playing in groups, all the children can also play individually; then the child who fills in all the squares correctly first wins.
  • With obstacles: The running route to the memory card can become a slalom or obstacle course that the children overcome on the way there.
  • All at once: In another variant, all members of a small group can run at the same time.

These skills are promoted

  • Memory, because the children memorize as many squares as possible at once on the memory card
  • Accurate transfer, because the memory card must be completely and correctly filled in
  • Concentration after running, since the memorized squares are entered immediately after returning
  • Cooperation, because the group completes a memory card together

Organizational notes

Each group needs a memory card and a pen, plus cones. Each group's memory card is placed on the opposite side of the playing field.

You can find other editions with the Memory Run in its basic form and in the Halloween edition; a winter running and memory game for teams is the Winter Memory Relay.
