Memory Run for Kids: Summer Edition for PE Class

The Memory Run for Kids is a team relay race in which the children memorize where picture cards with summer motifs are placed on a reference sheet. On the opposite side, they take one card and memorize its position. Back at the start, they place the card in exactly the same spot, so that the children can gradually recreate the reference sheet from memory.

What is included in the material

• Game description with required materials, procedure, and variations
• Blank template on which the team places the collected cards
• Reference sheet showing the arrangement of the cards
• Picture cards with summer motifs, from pineapples to sunglasses
• Additional reference sheets with different card arrangements for further rounds of the game

Tips for using the material

• As a team competition: The groups can compete against each other: At the signal of the game leader, one child from each group runs out, and the next starts as soon as they are back behind the starting line. The group that first completely and correctly fills in its blank template wins.
• Slalom or obstacles: A slalom or obstacle course can be set up on the track.
• Everyone at once: As a variation, all team members can run at the same time.

These skills are promoted

• Visual memory when memorizing the card positions on the summer reference sheet
• Spatial reasoning when transferring the card position to the blank template
• Speed when running to the opposite side and back

Organizational notes

In addition to the templates, reference sheets, and cards, cones are needed. Each team receives a blank template on its side, while on the opposite side, there is a reference sheet and the cards for each group.

To match this, the Memory Run for Kids is also available for spring, Carnival & Mardi Gras, and the Christmas bakery, as well as the basic version of the Memory Run.
