Description of the material

In a short exercise break, the children use this Vocabulary Fitness to review Zoo Animals in primary school English. Everyone marches on the spot, shouts out the English word for each animal picture, and joins in as soon as an exercise appears.

What is included in the material

  • Presentation with pictures of zoo animals, interspersed with illustrated exercises with English names, plus start, end, and instruction slides for the children
  • Instructions for the teacher on how the Vocabulary Fitness works
  • Vocabulary overview with all the animals shown as pictures with their English names

Tips for using the material

  • It is helpful to show the instruction slide before starting: it briefly summarizes the rules for the children.
  • It may be useful to click through the slides yourself. This allows the teacher to decide how long each picture and exercise is displayed.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: recall and say aloud the English names of zoo animals from pictures
  • Connect and perform English exercise terms such as squats, heel kicks, or high knees with pictures and words
  • Coordination and balance through exercises such as stand on one leg and balance position

The Zoo Animals also pair well with the Vocabulary Quiz, the Running Dictation, the Vocabulary Wheel of Fortune, and the Word and Picture Cards.
