Description of the material

Who has the Wellington boots on their card? The Clothes Lotto brings the classic game to the group table and turns it into a vocabulary round for primary school English. Going around, a child draws a picture card and says the English word, the others check if the item of clothing is on their lotto card, and then cross off the square. The first person to cross off all the squares wins. Two to six children sit at the table, and because everyone has to draw and name something each time, everyone gets a chance to speak.

This is included:

  • Lotto cards for drawing
  • Lotto cards
  • Word list with pictures
  • Game instructions

Usage options in English lessons

In group work, several tables can play at the same time, each group with its own set of lotto cards. For playfully reviewing clothing words, the lotto is perfect at the end of a unit or in a practice lesson.

Learning objectives and skills promoted

  • Speaking: Name items of clothing on a picture card in English
  • Listening comprehension: Find a spoken word on your own lotto card
  • Vocabulary: Playfully review clothing words, from jumper to wellies to backpack

The whole class can play the Bingo, for small groups Floppi and the Memo Game are also suitable.

Have fun trying it out and crossing off!
