Description of the material

This board game gets children talking in English class about baking. Whoever lands on a question space tells a story in English, for example about their favorite cake, names an important ingredient for Christmas cookies, or thinks about what can be made with apples.

What is included

  • Game board with start and end spaces, English questions and tasks about baking, as well as event spaces where children either skip a turn or move forward or backward two spaces
  • Game instructions in German, explaining the course of play

Tips for using the material

The game can be played by two or more people: players take turns rolling the dice and drawing a card, and the first person to reach the end space wins.

These skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary related to baking, such as ingredients, baked goods, toppings, baking utensils, and baking appliances
  • Speaking, because the children answer the questions freely in English and talk about their own experiences and preferences

Organizational notes

A die and game pieces are needed to play.

On the same topic, there are also the Smalltalk Cards, the Vocabulary Game, Don’t say it!, and the What am I? Cards.
