Description of the material
Busfahrplan is an orientation run for primary school in which pairs of children use a timetable to complete various routes via stops and obstacles. One child runs a route at a time, "driving" like a bus to all the marked stops. At the stamping station, the route is stamped, and then they return to their own bus station, where the other child takes over the timetable. This way, the teams can try to complete all the routes together.
This is included in the material
- Game description with procedure, setup diagram, duration, material list and variants
- Bus timetables with numbered routes showing stops and obstacles
- Stop signs with city names such as Hamburg, Berlin or Munich
- Obstacle signs bridge, tunnel, motorway, roundabout, viewpoint and bus station
- Game field overview showing stops, obstacles and stamping station
Tips for using the material
- Against the clock: A fixed time can be agreed beforehand in which all participants try to complete all the routes.
- Additional obstacles: The game field can be expanded with stations such as a zebra crossing or a stop sign where they have to stop briefly, a bus wash, a petrol station or corners.
- Local stops: Instead of city names, local places around the school can also be used as stops.
These skills are promoted
- Spatial orientation by transferring the routes from the timetable to the stops on the game field
- Running over obstacles, because the routes go over a bridge, through a tunnel and past other stations using gymnastics equipment
- Teamwork, because the two children take turns running the routes
Organizational notes
- Setup: The larger the game field, the better for the stops and obstacles; the teams start at the edge, each in a gymnastics hoop as their bus station.
- Material: Signs, cones, boxes, mats, gymnastics hoops, springboards, tape, and stamps or pens are required.
- Duration: One round takes about 10 to 20 minutes.
