Description of the material
This package contains 100 station cards for creating movement landscapes for children's gymnastics and primary school PE. All children's gymnastics setups have been tested in practice and can be recreated exactly using equipment found in almost every sports hall. The children can balance along a wobbly gymnastics bench, climb up the wall bars, and slide down the bench. At other stations, they can swing in the mat bowl or pull themselves through a bench alley on a roll board.
What is included in the material
- Station cards covering the focus areas of balancing, jumping, swinging & swinging, climbing, crawling, throwing, and rolling & gliding, each with a list of equipment, task, and setup sketch; the focus area is at the top right of the card
- Instructions for implementation with a suggestion for the flow of the gymnastics lesson
- Step-by-step knot instructions for the round turn with two half hitches to tie ropes to objects, and the square knot to join two ropes together
Tips for using the material
- Setup in small groups: After the welcome, the cards can be laid out in the hall where the stations are to be set up. Small groups of children or parents can then set up the stations themselves.
- Path between the stations: Balance stones or small mats can be placed between the setups to create a path.
- Safety check: Before gymnastics is performed on the setups, it is advisable for the teacher or instructor to perform a safety check of the stations.
- Introduction and main phase: The lesson can begin with a shared ritual such as clapping, a song, or an imaginative, movement, or yoga story and a small warm-up game before the children perform gymnastics on the equipment in the main phase.
- Takedown by the same groups: The small groups that also set up can take care of the takedown – this way they know where the equipment and materials are stored in the equipment room. Afterwards, if needed, a small closing game can be played before saying goodbye.
- Setup and takedown outside of the lesson: The stations can also be set up before the lesson and taken down after the lesson.
These skills are promoted
- Balance when balancing over medicine balls, pull-up bars, balance beams, and wobbly box sections
- Jumping and landing from the box or mini-trampoline onto the soft floor mat
- Climbing and swinging over pommel horses, boxes, and soft floor mats, as well as on ropes and gymnastics rings
- Target throwing with sandbags, tennis balls, softballs, and rings into hoops and boxes or onto cones
- Body experiences when crawling through mat tunnels, mat caves, and hoops
To complement this, there are additional station cards for movement landscapes, a movement landscape with an autumn story, as well as stations with a focus on balancing and climbing and hanging.
