Description of the material
For balancing in physical education, you will find station cards here for large equipment as well as for small equipment. The children can rock on the bench, turn around along the way, hop on one leg, or swing along the bars. Each card shows the setup in an illustration and states the task and equipment, so that each station can be set up according to the card.
This is included in the material
- Station cards for the long bench, box, pull-up bar, and bars: Balancing across the normal and upside-down bench, across pull-up bars, box parts, medicine balls, and jump ropes at the bars.
- Station cards with movable equipment: maintaining balance on the wobbly bench, the box lid on medicine balls, the gym ball, the board on a pipe, the pedal bike, and on stilts.
- Station cards with additional tasks: bouncing or throwing a ball while balancing, swinging a hoop on the arm, keeping a balloon in the air, or carrying a table tennis ball on the racket through a small obstacle course.
Tips for using the material
- Progression under "Too easy?": For each station, there is a more difficult variant, for example on all fours, backwards, with the weaker leg, or at a higher pace. This way, the learners can increase the difficulty of the task as soon as the basic form is mastered.
- Mutual assistance: At many stations, the learners can help each other, for example on the pull-up bar or when balancing on the ball.
- In pairs: Some stations can only be completed together, for example when two children throw a ball to each other on the bench or carry a ball on two sticks across two benches.
- Two setups for the box parts: The station across the box parts can be set up with or without non-slip mats.
These competencies are promoted
- Balance on narrow, elevated, and movable surfaces
- Body control during standing balance, turning, and squatting on the bench
- Coordination when a ball, a hoop, or a balloon is additionally controlled while balancing
- Cooperation when balancing and throwing a ball together on the bench
To match this, there is material for coordination and balance, further balancing setups in movement landscapes, and for balancing and overcoming in the obstacle course.
