Description of the material

Match! is a fast-paced reaction game in which learners compete to recognize and name tools used in technology classes. Any two cards share exactly one tool, sometimes in a different size. The first person to spot the match and correctly name the tool wins the card, so simply recognizing it is not enough. An instruction card for the table and different game variants make the game suitable for independent play in small groups of two to six people. It is particularly suitable for revision, from grade 3 in primary school up to grade 8 in lower secondary school.

What is included:

  • Instructions: game rules and two game variants
  • Instruction card: a summary of the rules for the table
  • Game cards: 31 cards, each featuring six tools and matching backs
  • Overview: all 31 tools with their names

Uses in technology classes

Several groups play at their own tables at the same time. After introducing the tools, the game helps reinforce their names, and during independent work or when a substitute teacher is present, the groups can use the instruction card without further explanation.

Learning objectives and skills promoted

  • Perception: recognize tools even when they are different sizes or orientations
  • Technical terms: quickly and correctly name the tool found
  • Game rules: follow agreed rules and play fairly

Didactic and methodological tips

The tool overview can be used to discuss the names before the first round, as you cannot win a card without knowing the correct name.

Also available in the same series are worksheets, a memory game, dominoes, bingo, posters, Don't Say It!, and tool flashcards; all together in the tools resource pack.

Have fun trying it out!
