Description of the material

The Outdoor Challenge for kids is a checklist of physical activities that gets children out into the fresh air. On the go, benches, trees and lampposts become training grounds. Children can jump over branches and stones, do push-ups on a bench or touch the water in a puddle with their little finger. Each completed exercise can be ticked off the list.

What is included in the material

  • Challenge list with outdoor exercises, each with an illustration and a short description
  • Blank template in the same design as the list, with blank lines for descriptions and ticks
  • Usage instructions with three ways to use the challenge

Tips for using the material

  • As a weekly task: Learners can complete the tasks over the course of a week and tick them off one by one.
  • On a walk with parents: Children can do the exercises on the go, while their parents tick them off, for example.
  • As a jog with extra tasks: The challenge can be combined with a jog, preferably with a partner, during which the children complete the tasks along the way.

These skills are promoted

  • Jumping over various objects such as branches, stones or fences
  • Strength in the arms and legs through push-ups, triceps dips and wall sits
  • Basic gymnastics movements through forward rolls or cartwheels on a grassy area
  • Exploring the surroundings, as water sources, road signs and suitable places for the exercises are searched for
