Description of the material

With these vocabulary cards, children learn what zoo animals are called in English – from elephant and meerkat to yak. The front of each card shows a picture of the animal with its German name, while the English word is on the back. This makes it easy to practice new words card by card in primary school English lessons.

What is included

  • Vocabulary cards featuring zoo animals
  • Cards with a tick and a cross
  • Instruction sheet for printing and preparing the cards

Tips for using the material

  • It is recommended to use the cards repeatedly for revision so that the animal names become firmly established over time.
  • The cards can be used in class, at home, or on the go to practice.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: English names for zoo animals such as giraffe, penguin, or meerkat
  • Connecting images and words: animal picture, German name, and English word go together
  • Reading and memorizing the spelling of individual English words

Organizational information

The card sides are printed double-sided along the long edge so that the front and back match. The cards can then be laminated, cut out, and bundled together, for example with a rubber band.

To complement this, there are large picture cards for introducing the same words, a game for revising the words, and a mini-test to check learning.
