Description of the material

In the Star Puzzle, children assemble triangular puzzle pieces featuring animal pictures and English animal names into a star, with exactly one picture matching each word. In a playful and independent way, primary school children reinforce their knowledge of zoo animals in English. Once the star is complete, they check it themselves.

What is included in the material

  • Instructions that explain to the children step by step how to compare the pieces, arrange them into a star, and check their work
  • Puzzle templates for several stars, each featuring different zoo animals, with pieces showing animal pictures and English animal names
  • For each star, a template with an empty star outline
  • Answer sheets showing the completed stars

Tips for using the material

  • It may be useful to offer the Star Puzzle as a learning station where children can work with the vocabulary independently.
  • The puzzle can also be used for individual or partner work, as well as in individual remedial lessons.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: reinforce English names for zoo and wild animals such as elephant, penguin, or kangaroo
  • Reading: read English animal names and match them to the corresponding picture
  • Independent work: assemble the star independently and check the result themselves

To complement this, there is another puzzle covering the same vocabulary, a matching circle for associating words and pictures, and material for matching by cutting and pasting.
