Description of the material

With these clip cards, learners find the correct English word for each animal picture and mark it with a clip. This allows them to practice vocabulary related to zoo animals in primary school English lessons in a fun and independent way. The animals range from elephants and penguins to meerkats, toucans, and sloths. The children can check the back of the card themselves to see whether their answer is correct.

What is included

  • Clip cards featuring zoo animals: Each card shows an animal picture and several English words to choose from; the correct answer is marked on the back.
  • Instructions for preparing and conducting the activity

Tips for using the material

  • It is recommended to place the cards at learning stations, where learners can complete them independently.
  • The cards can also be used in remedial lessons.

The following skills are developed

  • Vocabulary: recognize the English names of zoo animals and match them to the correct picture
  • Word-level reading: select the correct word from several English words
  • Independent working: check their own answers using the back of the card

Organizational notes

The cards are printed, the markings at the edge are folded over to the back, and the cards are then laminated. Paper clips or clothespins are required for clipping.

To complement this, there are station signs for the learning stations, a word-picture matching star puzzle, and a worksheet for matching words and pictures.
