Description of the material

Word to picture, triangle to triangle – until a star is formed. With this puzzle, children practice clothes vocabulary in primary school English lessons: they arrange the pieces so that each English word is placed next to its picture. They can then check for themselves whether everything is correct. Three stars, each featuring different items of clothing from a T-shirt to an evening dress, keep the exercise varied. The puzzle is suitable for use at learning stations as well as for individual or pair work.

What is included:

  • Puzzle pieces for three stars
  • Layout templates
  • Solutions
  • Instructions for the children

Uses in English lessons

In remedial lessons, one star per session may be enough. Those who finish more quickly can complete the next star. At learning stations, the puzzle is well suited for the practice or revision phase.

Learning objectives and skills promoted

  • Vocabulary: match clothing words such as jumper, wellies or trainers to the correct pictures
  • Reading: read and distinguish English words accurately
  • Self-checking: check their own results independently

Other layout games on the topic are the puzzle and the Matching Circle.

Have fun trying it out and puzzling!
