Description of the material

The Drawing Game is a drawing game for English lessons in which children draw English words related to cleaning such as broom, mop or vacuum cleaner on the board and their team guesses the word.

What is included

  • Game instructions with the rules and tips for use in class
  • 16 cards each with an English word and a picture

Tips for using the material

  • How to play: Two teams play against each other, and the person drawing has one minute to draw as many words as possible without speaking or writing; each word guessed by their team earns them one point.
  • Number of rounds: The number of rounds can be decided beforehand; the team with the most points wins.
  • Use: The game is ideal for reviewing vocabulary already learned, for example as a warm-up, at the end of a lesson or during cover lessons.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: recognise English words related to cleaning in a drawing and say them in English
  • Reading comprehension: understand the meaning of an English word on a card and represent it as a drawing

Organizational tips

The cards are cut out and placed face down in a stack; a timer, a pen and a board or whiteboard are also needed.

The Vocabulary Cards, Word and Picture Cards and Memo Game are also suitable for the topic of cleaning.
