Description of the material
The Smalltalk Game is a dice game for English lessons in which children move around a game board and answer English questions about the Arctic and Antarctic, such as what polar bears eat, how a penguin walks, or what you would do in an igloo.
What is included in the material
- Game board with start and end spaces, 21 English questions about animals, people, cold and ice, as well as spaces where you skip a turn or move forward or backward two spaces
- Game instructions explaining the course of play: players take turns rolling the dice and moving around the board; whoever lands on a question answers it, and the first person to reach the end space wins
Tips for using the material
The game can be played either by two people or with several people.
These skills are promoted
- Vocabulary related to the Arctic and Antarctic, such as polar bear, penguin, igloo, iceberg, and snowstorm
- Speaking, because the children answer every question and talk to each other about it
On the same topic, there are also the Smalltalk Cards, the Vocabulary Game, and Don’t say it!.
