Description of the material

With these clip cards for English lessons, children look at pictures of animals and things from the Arctic and Antarctic and find the correct English word, attaching a clip to it. The words range from musk ox and puffin to gloves and igloo, and the children can check their answers independently by turning over the card.

What is included

  • 30 clip cards, each with one picture and three English words to choose from
  • Instructions for preparing and using the cards, with six example cards

Tips for using the material

The cards can be used for station work and in remedial lessons.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary related to animals, winter clothing, and other terms from the Arctic and Antarctic, as each picture is matched to an English word
  • Reading, as the children have to find the correct word from among three English words

Organizational notes

Before use, the cards are printed, the tabs at the edge are folded back, and the cards are laminated; the children need paper clips or clothespins to attach them.

Other materials on Arctic & Antarctic include the Star Puzzle, the Domino, the Matching Circle, and the Word and Picture Cards.
