Description of the material

The Atom Game gets an additional task for every group in physical education with these task cards. Each card specifies exactly how many body parts must touch the ground. The children can coordinate with each other and arrange themselves so that the task is completed.

What is included in the material

  • Game description with the course of the game and an explained example card
  • Task cards with symbols for hands, feet, knees, elbows, buttocks, and head, each with the group size at the top of the card and sorted by group size

Tips for using the material

  • Running to music: The learners can run all over the playing field to the music until the game leader stops the music.
  • Number and card: When the music stops, the game leader can call out a number and hold up a task card. The learners form groups of this size and try to complete the task as quickly as possible.
  • Hold the position: This allows the game leader to easily check whether the task has been completed: The group members touch each other and hold their position for at least ten seconds.
  • Next round: Once all groups have completed the task, the next round can begin and everyone runs all over the playing field again.

These skills are promoted

  • Cooperation by coordinating and arranging themselves in the group
  • Balance when holding a position with only a few body parts on the ground
  • Reaction to the music stopping and the group size called out
  • Body awareness through the targeted use of individual body parts

To complement this, there are other games in which groups solve a task together, a small running game with commands, and other small games for physical education.
