Description of the material

The volume control for primary school consists of picture cards showing the voice levels “No Talking,” “Whisper Voice,” “Indoor Voice,” and “Outdoor Voice.” At a glance, learners can see whether silence, whispering, or speaking louder is required and adjust their voices accordingly.

What is included in the material

  • Picture cards with animals: each voice level with its own animal picture and label, in large and small formats
  • Picture cards with speaker symbols: the voice levels shown as speakers with sound waves, “No Talking” crossed out; the large cards without labels, the smaller ones with the name of the level
  • Arrows in different colors

Tips for using the material

  • Display the volume: The arrow can be used to indicate which volume level is currently required on the cards.

These skills are promoted

  • Adjust voice volume to the displayed level
  • Interpret symbols by recognizing the levels in the animal pictures or speaker symbols

To complement this: a quiet signal for the classroom, a card to make silence in the classroom visible, and non-verbal signals in the classroom.
