Summer / Summer: Match! (English)

The game "Match!" is ideal for reviewing vocabulary playfully in class. It is suitable for 2 to 6 players.

Basics:

Each card features 6 different pictures. Two cards always have the same picture. Only the size of the picture may differ.

Preparation:

First, the game cards should be printed. The cards can be printed either on thicker paper or with a back side. The backs can be found on pages 10 and 11. After the cards have been cut out, it is advisable to laminate them. Before the game starts, the small groups should gather around a table. All participants must be able to see the stack in the middle of the table clearly.

How to play:

  1. One person is appointed as the game leader.
  2. They shuffle the cards and place one card face up in the middle of the table. They place the other cards face down in a stack in front of them.
  3. At a signal, they turn a second card face up from the stack in the middle.
  4. The other players look at both face-up cards and search for the same picture.
  5. The person who recognizes and names the match first receives the card that has been in the middle longer.
  6. Then the game leader turns over the next card.
  7. The winner is the person who has collected the most cards at the end. In the event of a tie, there is a duel: Both people turn over a card from their own stack at the same time. The first person to call out the matching symbol wins the duel.
