Description of the material

In the chain game “I have …, who has …?”, primary school children playfully review and reinforce English numbers. Each card shows a number as a numeral and asks for another number written as an English number word. Whoever has the requested number answers and immediately asks the next question, creating a chain across the learning group.

What is included in the material

  • Game cards: a continuous chain from the start card to the end card with the numbers zero to thirty-one, as well as forty, fifty, and hundred
  • Game instructions: game procedure using the phrases “Who has …?” and “I have …,” along with example cards

Tips for using the material

  • The round is best started by the child who has the start card: they ask the first question, for example “Who has zero?”, and the game ends once the end card is reached.
  • The game can be used as an introduction to the lesson, as a concluding activity, or as a break between activities.

The following skills are promoted

  • Listening comprehension: understanding spoken English number words and matching them to the numeral on your own card
  • Reading: recognizing and reading English number words on the card
  • Speaking: asking “Who has …?” and answering “I have …“
