Description of the material

Education Lotto is a game that allows children to playfully review numbers in primary school English lessons. The person whose turn it is draws a card with a digit and says the number in English. Everyone else checks their bingo card and crosses off the number if it is there.

What is included in the material

  • Instructions: Step-by-step game rules for the bingo game
  • Bingo cards: Cards with digits to draw
  • Bingo sheets: Game sheets with digits to cross off
  • Vocabulary overview: All numbers in the game with the digit and English number word

Tips for using the material

  • It is recommended to form small groups of two to six children. Each group receives a sheet with bingo cards, and each child receives a bingo sheet.
  • It is useful to have the cards drawn in turns, so that after each number, the next child takes a turn.
  • As the game is played, the child who first crosses off all the fields on their bingo sheet wins.

These skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: Recall English number words for digits
  • Speaking: Say the drawn number aloud in English
  • Listening comprehension: Understand the number words mentioned and match them to the corresponding digit on your own bingo sheet

Organizational notes

Before the game, the bingo cards are shuffled and placed in a bag or dealt face down on the table.

To complement this, there is a similar game for the whole class, another game about number words, and picture cards for introducing number words.
