Description of the material

Floppi is a card game that helps children practice English words for drinks such as lemonade, milkshake, or hot chocolate. Players take turns drawing a picture card from a bag and may keep it if they correctly name the drink. However, if a Floppi card is drawn, the player must return all the cards they have collected, so that luck plays a role alongside skill.

The material includes

  • 24 picture cards, each showing a drink
  • 6 Floppi cards featuring the Floppi character
  • Word list with the 24 English terms for the pictures
  • Game instructions explaining the procedure, rules, and end of the game

Tips for using the material

  • End of the game: The player who has collected the most cards at the end wins; if the game does not end on its own, it can be limited by time or ended by the teacher.
  • Location: The game can be played in a circle or directly at the students' desks while the teacher carries the bag around.

The following skills are promoted

The children reinforce their English vocabulary by naming 24 drinks in English based on the pictures alone.
