Breakfast / Frühstück: Vocabulary Wheel of Fortune for the English classroom

Vocabulary Wheel of Fortune contains templates for a wheel of fortune with which children can review previously learned English breakfast words such as pancakes, porridge or orange juice. The templates only feature pictures, so the children have to figure out the English word for the picture they land on themselves.

Tips for using the material

• Vocabulary practice: One child spins the wheel of fortune, another says the word and is allowed to spin it themselves after a correct answer.
• Writing: While one child spins, the others can write the word in their exercise books, and at the end the terms can be compared and corrected together.
• Storytelling: The children can incorporate the word they land on into a short story or a grammatically correct sentence.
• Asking a question: The children ask a question about the word, which another child can answer.
• Quiz: Two children or teams can compete against each other, and whoever says the word correctly first gets a point.
• Bingo: The children write nine vocabulary words in a grid and cross out the word they land on if it is there; whoever gets three words in a row, column or diagonal shouts bingo and wins.

• Vocabulary: recalling English breakfast words such as bagel, jam or honey from pictures
• Spelling when writing down the words and correcting them together
• Speaking when the children incorporate the words into sentences, short stories or questions
