Description of the material

In this sneak dictation, children memorize English breakfast words such as bread, jam or hot chocolate from word cards in the classroom and then write them at their desks next to the corresponding picture.

What is included in the material

  • Instructions explaining the procedure of the sneak dictation and three rules
  • 30 word cards with a picture and English breakfast word
  • 6 worksheets, each with 10 pictures: the 30 words are spread across three sheets, each with primary school-style ruled lines and a simple writing line for each picture

Tips for using the material

  • Word selection: You can specifically select and hang the vocabulary words you want to practice.
  • Procedure: The cards can be hung in different places in the classroom and each child receives a worksheet; at the teacher's signal, everyone sneaks quietly to a card, returns to their desk, and then goes to the next card until all the children have written down all the words.
  • Rules: No copying, speaking or reading aloud, and everyone works at their own pace.

These skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary related to breakfast, with words such as cheese, peanut butter or fried egg
  • Spelling, because each word is correctly written down from memory
  • Memory when memorizing the words from the card

On the topic of breakfast, there are also Word and Picture Cards, a Memo Game and a Vocabulary Mini Test.
