Description of the material

The Drawing Game is a drawing and guessing game for two teams, which allows the children to review English words about the beach they already know. One person from each team draws terms such as seagull, surfboard or ice cream on the board, and the other team members try to guess and say them.

Included in the material

  • 48 term cards, each with an English word and a matching illustration, from swimming trunks and towel to watermelon and palm tree, crab and seahorse
  • Game instructions with preparation, gameplay, scoring and tips for use in the classroom

Tips for using the material

  • One minute per turn: At the start signal, the person drawing reveals a card; if their team guesses the term, they get a point and can continue drawing other terms until the end of the minute, before it is the other team's turn.
  • Number of rounds: The number of rounds can be decided in advance, and the team with the most points at the end wins.
  • During the lesson: The game is ideal as a lesson starter, a lesson closer or for substitute lessons.

Organizational tips

For the game, the cards are cut out and placed face down in a stack. You will also need a timer and a pen.

On the same topic, there are also Don’t say it!, the What am I? Cards, the Vocabulary Wheel of Fortune and the Word and Picture Cards.
