Description of the material

The Matching Circle is a matching circle activity for English lessons in which children match English words related to baking, such as rolling pin, flour or hand mixer, to the corresponding picture and a short English description. The descriptions are written from the perspective of the objects, e.g. “I roll out the dough.”, so that the children can deduce the meaning of the word from an English sentence.

What is included

  • Matching circle variant 1 with 12 baking words, each with a word, picture and English description, plus a central “BAKING” section
  • Matching circle variant 2 with the same 12 words and pictures without descriptions, also with a central “BAKING” section
  • Information page with a brief explanation of the method and instructions on how to use it

Tips for using the material

  • Group format: The cards can be laid out randomly on the floor or on a large table, and the children can work individually, in pairs or in small groups.
  • Group conclusion: Once all the matches have been checked, it is a good idea to discuss the completed matching circle together.
