Description of the material

On this worksheet about English words related to baking, the children count pictured items such as eggs, rolling pins or packs of flour and write sentences starting with “There are …” to state how many there are of each.

The material includes

  • Worksheet version 1 with a picture box containing 30 pictures of ten different items related to baking and 10 pre-written “There are …” sentences in which the children write the number word; the first sentence is completed with “two” as an example.
  • Worksheet version 2 with a picture box containing 30 pictures of ten different items related to baking; only the sentence starter “There are” is provided, so that the children write the sentences themselves.
  • Answers with the English number words for the ten sentences in version 1.
  • Instruction page with a short description of the task.

Tips for using the material

The two versions allow the worksheet to be differentiated in two ways, so that, depending on their level, the children can either complete the number words or write full sentences.

The following skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary related to baking, as the children match the English words in the sentences to the pictures.
  • Counting and number words, as the children count the pictures and write the quantity as an English word.
  • Reading simple English sentences starting with “There are …”.
