Autumn: Running Dictation for the English Classroom

Running Dictation is a running dictation activity for English lessons in which the children read English autumn words such as pumpkin, hedgehog or raincoat on cards around the classroom, memorize them and write them next to the corresponding picture back at their desks.

What is included in the material

• 40 word cards, each with an English autumn word and the corresponding picture
• 4 worksheets, each with 10 pictures next to which the children write the words, so that all 40 words are covered; each sheet is available with lined paper and with a simple writing line
• Instructions with the procedure and rules of the running dictation

Tips for using the material

• Word selection: You can specifically select the vocabulary that is currently being practiced and hang the cards in different places around the classroom.
• Start and end: The teacher can send all the children off with a starting signal; the exercise ends when all the children have written down all the words.
• Rules: During the running dictation, nothing is copied, no one speaks or reads aloud, and each child works at their own pace.

• Vocabulary related to autumn, including animals, plants, fruit and vegetables, weather and clothing, such as fox, acorn, plum, wind and sweater
• Spelling, because the children memorize the words and then write them down correctly
