Description of the material

With this bingo, children review English words about the Arctic and Antarctic such as polar bear, narwhal, igloo, or winter hat. A selected child draws a vocabulary card and reads the word aloud, while the others look for the matching picture on their bingo card and cross it off.

This is included in the material

  • Instructions with game rules, winning rules, and a variant for quick implementation
  • 20 vocabulary cards, each with an English word and a picture
  • 32 bingo cards with 9 picture fields
  • 32 bingo cards with 16 picture fields

Tips for using the material

  • Winning rules: Whoever has completely crossed off a row, column, or diagonal shouts “Bingo” as quickly as possible and wins if all fields have been correctly crossed off.
  • Quick implementation: Without cutting out and drawing, the game leader can also read the words directly from the printed vocabulary card sheet in any order.

These skills are promoted

  • Vocabulary: review English words for animals such as orca or arctic fox, for winter clothing such as scarf, and for ice and snow
  • Listening comprehension: recognize the read-aloud English word and match it to the corresponding picture on the bingo card
  • Reading aloud: read the word on the drawn vocabulary card aloud

Organizational notes

For the game, the vocabulary cards are cut out, laminated if necessary, and placed in a bag from which they are drawn.

On the topic of the Arctic and Antarctic, there is also a Memo Game, a Domino, and word and picture cards.
