2D Shapes / 2D-Formen: What am I? – Cards for English Lessons

In this material you will find riddle cards on which geometric shapes in English introduce themselves with a short clue and ask for their name with “What am I?”. From information about corners, sides and angles or about things from everyday life, the children deduce whether, for example, a rectangle, a parallelogram or an ellipse is meant.

Tips for using the material

The cards can be read aloud by the teacher or used by the children in partner work.

• Vocabulary: English names of shapes such as triangle, octagon or semicircle
• Reading and listening comprehension: deduce the shape being sought from simple English descriptions such as “I am half of a circle.”
