Zoo Animals: Vocabulary Spin Wheel (Template for DaZ, DaF, and German Lessons)

The spin wheel can be used to playfully practice vocabulary that has already been learned. There are several ways to use the spin wheel in class, for example:

  1. Vocabulary Practice:
A student spins the wheel. Another student is chosen and says the word. If they say the word correctly, they get to spin next, and the game continues.

  2. Writing:
A student spins the wheel, and everyone else writes the word in their notebook. At the end, the words are compared and corrected together.

  3. Storytelling:
The children incorporate the word into a short story or a grammatically correct sentence.

  4. Asking a Question:
The children ask a question about the word. Another student can answer the question if necessary.

  5. Quiz:
The spin wheel is used for a quiz. Two students compete against each other at a time. Whoever says the word correctly first gets a point. Alternatively, the quiz can also be played in teams.

  6. Bingo:
The children write nine vocabulary words in a 3x3 grid. Then the wheel is spun. If a child has the spun word in their grid, they can cross off the corresponding square. If a child gets three words in a row, column, or diagonal, they shout "Bingo!" and win.
